THE CAROUSEL

Interactive Installation / Performance, 2023

The Carousel is an interactive installation activated through play and audience participation. Inspired by the duck-catching games of amusement parks, the work takes the form of a performative structure in which participants must hit and toss balls at a series of floating beings, suspended and moved like marionettes.

The installation consists of six stations: five dedicated to the game and one serving as a prize counter. Each station accommodates two players, allowing up to ten participants to play simultaneously. Prizes are paper sculptures created by the artist, some made on the spot, in various sizes depending on the players’ performance.

Beyond its playful dimension, The Carousel functions as a performative device: the actions of the players, the movement of the suspended elements, and the continuous interaction transform the installation into a theatrical scenario, designed also for spectators. The audience thus becomes an integral part of the work, contributing to the creation of a dynamic, collective performance.
