NORTHERN LIGHTS FLOWERS
Experiential Workshop / Participatory Artwork, 2024–2025
Northern Lights Flowers is an experiential workshop that invites participants to enter a dark, immersive space. Upon entering, they are provided with flashlights—tools necessary to activate the artwork: when illuminating the flowers, they emit beams of light and reflections that propagate through the space, bringing the work to life.
The project is inspired by a narrative imagination: according to legend, ancient explorers and travelers observed the reflections of the Northern Lights Flowers to find their way home, following the different light emissions as orientation signals. This story serves as the starting point for a collective experience, where each participant contributes to activating the artwork.
The action is collective: only through the simultaneous intervention of the audience does the space transform, filling with beams of light, colors, and movement. The workshop functions as a shared experience, in which the artwork comes alive through the presence and interaction of the participants.
The project was presented at Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo in Turin and at the Triennale di Milano, also in dialogue with the exhibition path and guided tours of Ron Mueck’s show.
